"Prior to formation of North East Frontier Tract (1914) during the British India and North East Frontier Agency (1951) in Republic of India, this Land locked state was not known to outer world living silently in the midst of dense forest, without any kind of development/disturbances including medical facility. It was a union territory under the control of Govt. of Union of Republic India under the command and control of Lieutenant Governor Head quarter based at Shillong Meghalaya.

After it was decided to shift from Shillong Meghalaya to Itanagar in the year 1971, clearing of Noman’s land forest and clearing dense forest by engaging laborer’s. Need of medical facilities was felt due to malaria endemic being foothill area and a dispensary was established to take care of the medical need of labor force clearing jungles.

From Dispensary to General Hospital in 1983 then to Arunachal State hospital, in 2011 of 100 bedded and now is 1st Medical college of state running 4 years MBBS course with 50 intake capacity with 350 bedded TRIHMS Hospital,Naharlagun’2017, with its excellent infrastructures of skyrocket ting buildings and all kind of modern facilities treatment and investigations including CT Scan, MRI Ultrasound with dedicated highly qualified physicians & Surgeons managing day today affairs.

Since its inception the hospital has progressed by leaps and bounds in all fields. With passage of time, the hospital has undergone many stages of evolution, sea of changes and today it is a pride of the State of Arunachal Pradesh being the first Medical College Hospital"
